| Samita Jana An MBA with core experience in the Information Technology sector and entrepreneurship in the area of Communication & Publishing, Samita started her career as a Computer Programmer in the year 1980 after completing MBA. From 1980 to 1986 she had worked with two premier IT companies in India viz. HCL and DCM Data Products. During this period she was mainly involved with turnkey Application Software Development projects for large corporate customers. In the latter half of the year 1986 she joined one of the largest natural gas marketing companies in India, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), a Rs 110 billion company. At GAIL she was in the core group primarily involved in charting out the marketing strategy for natural gas in India including its distribution in urban households in the metropolitan cities of Bombay and Delhi in collaboration with international companies like British Gas and Gaz de France. In the year 1990, she changed the direction of her career and, for the subsequent 10 years, was involved as a promoter CEO with a start-up company, providing Communication Design, Advertising and Publishing services to corporate customers. During the year 1999-2000 when the waves of new economy started reaching our shores she decided to venture into the areas of e-business and joined a start-up Internet Company, funded by Infinity Ventures, one of the leading venture capital firms, as a Vice President. There she had handled development and marketing of various e-procurement solutions and services for commercial printing. Due to the downturn in the IT industry this start-up company, however, could not sustain the e-business solutions & services and decided to close down the division. Samita then started functioning as a Freelance Management Consultant in the areas of Information Technology Management, Publishing, Communication and Business Process Outsourcing & e-business development. She has been working with a number of IT companies and corporate houses. Presently her focus is on IT enabled services in the publishing domain. Samita stays in New Delhi.
